Don’t Discard Your Telecom Equipment—Recycle It!

Eventually all businesses need to upgrade their telecom equipment in order to stay competitive and gain access to newer and improved technologies. However what these companies choose to do with their discarded hardware is an important decision that can have long lasting implications for the environment and for the market in general. Telecommunications equipment is far from cheap, and is composed of pounds upon pounds of plastics, rubber, precious metals and other toxic materials that are both particularly valuable and very damaging to the environment.

This is something that should be kept in mind when it comes time to replace or upgrade your existing telecom equipment. Rather than just discarding the outdated hardware consider recycling it instead. There are several companies out there who specialize in collecting outdated hardware and either recycling it to be used in other products or salvaging what they can and refurbishing the usable parts into low cost systems to put back out on the market. Refurbishing the old equipment goes a long way toward helping small businesses get their legs underneath them and keep the general costs on the market lower by providing affordable alternatives. Additionally these companies often handle enterprise level recycling jobs, meaning that no matter how big or how small your system is these companies are equipped to handle it (and will often pay to pick it up, too!).

In one fell swoop you can get rid of your old system for free while helping to preserve the environment (and potentially keep your own costs down as a side benefit). It’s a win/win situation for everyone involved, and it only takes a phone call and some common sense to take advantage of it. So next time you upgrade, remember: recycle, recycle, recycle.
